Margie pressed her ear against the cold stone wall of Whisperwind Academy. There it is again! she whispered. The walls seemed to hum with a peculiar melody. Being a first-year student at a magical school was already extraordinary, but this was different. She pulled out her leather-bound spellbook, and a weathered piece of parchment fluttered to the floor.
Unfolding the mysterious parchment, Margie's eyes widened. It was a map of the school, but not like any she'd seen before. Glowing lines crisscrossed between classrooms, forming patterns that pulsed with magical energy. This can't be real, she muttered, tracing the lines with her finger. The wall behind her suddenly shimmered.
Heart pounding, Margie watched as the stone wall rippled like water. Her best friend Lucy appeared around the corner. Margie, what are you doing? Lucy asked. I think I've found something incredible, Margie replied, showing her the map. The wall's shimmer grew stronger, casting a soft blue light across their faces.
Lucy adjusted her round spectacles, studying the map. These passages... they're everywhere! she exclaimed. A distant echo reached their ears - it sounded like children's voices, but somehow different. Someone needs help, Margie said firmly, reaching for the glowing wall. Lucy grabbed her hand. We should tell the teachers!
There's no time, Margie insisted, pointing to the map where several dots were fading. Look, these must be students trapped in the parallel classrooms. Tommy, their classmate who loved solving puzzles, appeared with his enchanted compass. Did someone say parallel classrooms? he asked, eyes sparkling with curiosity.
The three friends huddled around the map as Tommy's compass spun wildly. According to my calculations, he whispered, these passages only open during the full moon. Margie checked her magical timepiece. That's tonight! she declared. The wall's humming grew louder, and a doorway of light began to form.
Margie, Lucy, and Tommy stepped through the glowing doorway together. The parallel classroom looked like a mirror image of their own, but everything was bathed in silvery moonlight. Look! Lucy pointed to several students frozen like statues. The curse must have trapped them between dimensions, Tommy explained, consulting his magical texts.
The counter-spell is in my book! Margie exclaimed, flipping through her spellbook. The three friends joined hands, forming a circle around the frozen students. As they recited the spell, the room filled with sparkling light. One by one, the trapped students began to move, their eyes blinking in confusion.
Back in their own dimension, Headmistress Blackwood awarded them special medals for bravery. Margie smiled as she added a new entry to her notebook: 'Theory proven: School walls DO contain magical portals.' She drew a neat tick beside it. Another mystery solved, she whispered, as the walls hummed their gentle approval.
